The subtle nose on this wine suggests creamy apricot. Gentleness and creaminess carry over to a smooth but warm and textured palate. Freshness and a touch of pleasantly bitter pith counter the fruit and creates a bright and long finish. ANNE KREBIEHL MW
A blending of differents vineyards from the village of Solutré, the grapes are hand-harvested when fully ripe and pressed immediately by pneumatic press. The juice then goes through static settling. Only clear juices are vinified for 90% in stainless steel tanks and 10% in 1 to 3 years old barrels.
The wine is matured on the lees and regulary stirred. It is then fined and filtered before bottling.
The limestone soil of Solutré produce lively, mineral wines with aromass of white flowers and hazelnuts. A rich, round wine.
Vins Auvigue is a 6th generation family estate spanning 16.25 acres and residing in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. It faces the majestic Roche de Solutré which is pictured on the labels of all of their wines. Five of the 16 acres have been farmed organically for over 20 years in the Mâcon-Solutré and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations. The estate, which boasts a lengthy, thriving history as both a producer and a vintner, has received worldwide recognition for its acclaimed Mâcon wines. Vines are cared for with minimal intervention and vigilantly monitored to ensure that the soil receives all it requires in as precise a timeframe as feasible. Grapes that do not stem from the estate are rigorously selected from the best plots in the Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon appellations.
