A special bottling dedicated to our grandfather, Robert, who taught and inspired us each and every day and who continues to do so on this journey. This cuvée is a selection of our finest barrels giving a window into the cool, rugged hills of the West Sonoma Coast. Aromas of red cherry, rose petals, violets, coastal forest floor, wet rock, and lifted red and black berries fill the bowl. Black tea, damp sun-kissed earth, savory herbs, forest berries, and floral notes persist and harken back to the
site where the grapes were grown.
100 % Whole cluster • Native fermentation • Aged in neutral French oak barrels • Bottled without fining or filtration • 10 acres

In a remote, raw territory where the forest and meadows meet the Pacific Ocean is where the story of RAEN begins. These hills of the Sonoma Coast provide a diversity of soil, elevation and climate that allow for wines of incredible expression, elegance and length.
RAEN is a Pinot Noir domaine focused on yielding aromatic, lifted wines of finesse and elegance from what we consider to be three “grand cru” vineyards capable of sitting among the worlds finest.
In the vineyards our farming is reverting back to what we might have seen when our family began farming and working with pinot noir 100 years ago and perhaps closer to the way the monks farmed it hundreds of years ago. Our goal is not just to honor the fruit we grow but also the nature in which it is growing.
In the cellar we strive to capture the delicate micro flora from our vineyard in our wines. We do this by utilizing whole cluster fermentations relying only on the native yeasts that exist naturally on the grapes giving us a deeper connection to our sites. After fermentation the wines are pressed and aged in neutral French oak barrels allowing our wines to evolve in a gentle manner without overpowering the delicate aromatic notes. The wines will age between 10 to 20 months depending on the vintage and site. Once we feel the wines are ready RAEN is then bottled without finning or filtration to further keep these pure delicate notes intact.
About RAEN (pronounced rain)
It only becomes wine in our vineyards after being filtered by the rocks taken back up by the vines and sweetened by the sun. The unique spelling is our society and ethos, which is translated to Research in Agriculture and Enology Naturally.
As winemakers and farmers, Carlo and Dante attribute a great deal of what they have learned to their grandfather Robert and father Tim, both whom influenced them from a young age.
Carlo and Dante’s father Tim was a pioneer for California Pinot Noir in the early 1970s and has always had a tremendous regard for the great wines of Burgundy. To this day his Pinot Noirs from the 1970s are showing incredibly well. Carlo and Dante credit their father’s passion for Pinot Noir as the early inspiration that got them excited at a young age.
