The NV Extra-Brut Cuvée No. 743 (2015 base) is soft, open-knit and caressing. The natural radiance of 2015 comes through in the wine's ample, creamy feel. Apricot, spice, dried flowers, hazelnut and lightly honeyed notes are all beautifully laced together. The 743 is already a touch forward, in a good way, which makes it a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. The blend is 60% Pinot Noir (from Aÿ, Dizy and Hautvillers) and 40% Chardonnay (from Avize and Oiry). Disgorged: August 2019 and bottled with no dosage. 92 Points Antonio Galloni, November 2020
Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir. Based on 2015, our harvest from Aÿ, Dizy & Hautvillers (60%), and from Avize & Oiry (40%). Winter and a large part of spring were mild and wet. There followed a period of dry weather with spells of high temperatures which lasted until mid-August. The growing season ended with alternating periods of cool humidity and dry heat. Picking started on 10 September and ended on the last day of the month. The harvest was very homogeneous and produced perfectly ripe and healthy grapes, in reasonable quantities, with a sufficient level of acidity. So, a splendid vintage. Some reserve wines complete the blend. 215,330 bottles, 10,013 magnums and 302 jeroboams were produced. Zero dosage. Importer Notes

Jacquesson has a rich and long history, but that doesn’t mean that they are afraid of modern ideas and innovation. In a break from Champenois tradition, each new release could be completely different from previous year. For example, if the Pinot Noir is better than Chardonnay one year, Jacquesson will use more Pinot Noir rather than preserving the house style at the expense of quality. The 700-series wine is the flagship, and the only wine being made every year. All of the best juice goes into this single cuvée. In exceptional years they also bottle up to four highly sought-after single-vineyard cuvées.
Sustainable farming practices are the norm at Jacquesson; no herbicides are used and rows are tilled in the spring and fall, with grass sowed in summer. When fertilizers are used, they are entirely organic. Pruning is severe for low yields, there are no green harvests, and canopy management is stressed to ensure minimal mildew and odium pressure, thus keeping spray use to a minimum.

For Cam Davis, LouElla is the culmination of more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and beverage industry. Cam has successfully managed some of Durham’s finest locally and nationally recognized establishments, including Hutchin's Garage, Guglhupf, Rue Cler, and Durham Catering Company. He brings a wealth of wine and beverage knowledge, not only from his extensive restaurant experience, but also from his tenure as Durham Sales Manager for wine distributor Bordeaux, Fine and Rare.
