This is a lovely little red from a single vineyard situated near Chorey which captures the essence of this area. The vineyards, averaging thirty years of age, are on the eastern side of the route nationale on a clay and limestone soil with a gravel texture. After a ten-day cuvaison, the wine is racked into small barrel for an elevage of one year before bottling. The Bourgogne “Barrigards” features the high spice tones that are a classic feature of this section of the Cote de Beaune; light, slightly nervy, with an exuberance that makes this a fine companion with birds simply roasted or grilled, sausages on the flame, or a “dagwood”.
The Cornu estate has been a family business for four generations. During the past 40 years, Colette and Claude grew the business with love and tradition. Today, their son Alexandre manages the vineyard and winemaking while their daughter Isabelle manages sales and administrative duties.
The winery is located in Magny les Villers, a small village between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. This village benefits from an exceptional geographical location in the heart of the Côte D’Or, between the world-famous Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
From vine to wine, we ensure the best cultivation and winemaking methods at every step of the process.
We produce 15 appellations (6 whites and 9 reds) as well as 2 sparkling wines (one white and one rosé) on 20 hectares, with respect for the environment. We guarantee a savoir- faire that combines tradition and progress based on the terroir.
We mainly cultivate 2 grape varieties, chardonnay for white wines, pinot noir for red wines.
The wines are traditionally vinified and partly aged in French oak barrels.
We produce different types of wines:
– Fruity, supple wines, to be drunk young for your immediate pleasure.
– Wines for aging, in order to achieve the quintessential aspects of pinot noir from our Burgundy terroirs.
All our wines are bottled at the estate with the utmost care.
