Alex Foillard Côte de Brouilly 2019 is a smooth red wine with a formidable aromatic palette of red fruits, notes of liquorice and hints of vegetables. On the palate it is fresh, light and balanced. A wine with wonderful acidity that will leave you wanting more.
Alex Foillard Côte de Brouilly is a natural red wine made by Alex Foillard with the Gamay variety in the AOC Côte de Brouilly, in Beaujolais (France).
Son of the revolutionary artisan winemaker Jean Foillard, Alex Foillard has followed him into the natural wine movement. After working in different wineries in Burgundy, Australia and Japan, he decided to start his own winery in the unique Beaujolais terroir and interpret the essence of the area through respectful and artisan work.
Alex Foillard Côte de Brouilly comes from 1 hectare of vines grown in the La Folie à Odenas region. These vines are 30 to 50 years old and planted on granite and sandy soils. They are organically cultivated, seeking a biodiversity that creates the identity and character of the wine itself.
In the winery, Alex Foillard Côte de Brouilly undergoes a traditional carbonic maceration with the whole bunches and spontaneously ferments in cement tanks with native yeasts. The wine then ages in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Finally, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering, and there are no additives of any kind, except a small dose of sulphur.
Vinified with minimal intervention in terms of products and machinery, Alex Foillard Côte de Brouilly is a wine that offers the full identity of the Gamay variety and the Beaujolais terroir.
