Adam's F$%K Cancer T Shirts. $12.50 from the sale of each shirt goes directly to Adam Greene to help him fight Cancer.
Most of you might be familiar with Adam Greene from his time spent in the wine & restaurant business around the triangle with Tryon, Leland Little, Blu Seafood and Piedmont. At age 41,
Adam has recently been diagnosed with and started treatment for AL Amyloidosis and Multiple Myeloma. He cannot work due to his treatment schedule and is in a difficult situation financially. His sister has started a GoFundMe to help him during this time.
Here is a little about Adam’s situation in his sister's words.
We are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Adam Greene (41 years old), who has recently been diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis and Multiple Myeloma.
Adam began experiencing symptoms earlier this year. As an avid runner, he began noticing an inability to push himself an extra mile or two. The shortness of breath and chest pains increased, leading Adam to seek medical care.
Several months of labs, biopsies, and extensive testing have revealed two extremely rare, devastating diagnoses. Both multiple myeloma and amyloidosis are caused by abnormalities of plasma cells in the bone marrow. Multiple myeloma is a rare blood disease where cancerous plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow, crowding out heathy blood cells. This causes damage to multiple organs and the skeletal system, as well as diminishing immunity from other illnesses. In addition, Adam’s plasma cells are producing an abnormal protein (amyloid). These amyloids have deposited in his heart (thickening the walls of his heart), resulting in heart failure. Additional biopsies are needed to determine if amyloid deposits are present in his stomach, intestines, kidneys, and other organs. This will be a long, difficult road for Adam, as treatment is dependent on his cardiac condition. Adam is currently receiving care at the Duke Cancer Center in North Carolina for chemotherapy targeting the amyloidosis. If his cardiac condition stabilizes, they will begin treatment for multiple myeloma and the hope is for a stem cell transplant.
Unfortunately, Adam is no longer able to work. There is an abundance of uncertainty in the months ahead. In addition to his lack of income and mounting medical bills, his insurance coverage will be ending soon. While he is in the process of obtaining long term disability, the funds are not comprehensive and will not be available for at least 90 days. We are humbly asking our friends for financial support for Adam. All donations will go directly towards chemotherapy, additional medical costs (further procedures, medications), and Adam’s living expenses. We so appreciate your kindness and generosity.
