Winery Notes
100% Serralunga in its character - a paradigmatic wine thanks to its severe and authoritative tone, with an austere but also generous and sharing manner - as well as in the organoleptic characteristics: liquorice, juniper, tar, balsamic notes, spices and undergrowth are just the most recognisable and typical expressions of an aromatic patrimony which sketches, year after year, a veritable narration of the land. This is made authentic and trustworthy by our unequivocally natural choices and by an attitude alien to mediation. A narration which changes and evolves in time, under the sign of longevity and tradition.
Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris is an organic cask-aged red wine made by Cappello with the Nebbiolo variety in the DOCG Barolo, in Piedmont (Italy).
When we talk about Barolo, we have to talk about Cappellano. A family winery known internationally for producing Nebbiolos, Barberas and Dolcettos, but above all for its great Barolos. Today, after five generations, Augusto Cappellano continues the legacy with the same respect for his ancestor’s traditions and land.
Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris comes from a small vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. Considered to be one of the most prestigious "crus" in the area, these are 60 year old vineyards planted on limestone soil, 400 meters above sea level. Organic farming is practiced without the use of chemical products and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripening.
In the cellar, Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris is elaborated with old-fashioned artisan methods. A wine fermented with native yeasts and without filtration is aged in fudres for a minimum of 18 months.
Under the sign of longevity and tradition, Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris is a robust, austere and complex Barolo. A very hedonistic pleasure.
